“Order” issued by the [City] Council of Frankfurt [Present-day Germany; Free Imperial City of Frankfurt]: “[…] no Jewish doctor is to be admitted into the [Jewish] settlement (‘Stättigkeit’) without the permission of the [City] Council.” [Researcher’s note: Although Jewish doctors were very much in demand, it was argued that the Italian universities were too imprudent in issuing a “doctor’s cap” (MD license) to Jews.]
