General Rescript, issued by Eberhard Louis, Duke of Württemberg [Present-day Germany]: “We hereby prohibit all trading and other dealings of Christians with Jews, except in public markets but without the evil of usury; from now on, none of Our subjects shall be allowed to borrow anything from Jews, to work with them, or to agree to any deal or trade with them, be it usurious or not, and the appropriate punishments and confiscations shall be applied without mercy to those in contravention of this order.”
