“General-Rescript regarding the dealing with Jews” issued by Charles Eugene (‘Carl’), Duke of Württemberg [Present-day Germany; Duchy of Württemberg]: “[We] Carl […] have had to notice with displeasure that our subjects, despite the many existing ordinances, continue to enter into business dealings with Jews, by which they open the gate to usury […] that is why we order that you shall warn all of your local authorities (‘Amts-Untergebene’) to refrain from entering into such contracts with all earnestness […] and to strictly heed the […] land-ordinance […]”
