Rescript, issued by Frederick II, King of Prussia [Present-day Germany]: “For Jews only, the age of majority shall begin upon completion of their twentieth life-year.” [Researcher’s note: This meant that Jews lost the legal protections of being under the guardianship of their parents four years sooner than Prussian non-Jews, who stayed minors until age twenty-four.]
