Order, issued by Christian VII, King of Denmark and Norway, to all diocesan commanders, royal officers, and feudal lords in Denmark, as well as the Abbess of Valse [Present-day Denmark]: “In order to prevent foreign Jews from being tolerated or introduced, diocesan and royal officers shall immediately implement the most effective measures to apprehend these Jews, so that this disorder can be inhibited and stopped; likewise, at all ferry stations and to all skippers, it must be re-emphasized that they keep the king’s measures in effect, in order to avoid bringing into the country such people, as it is quite forbidden for them to come here.”
