Decree, issued by the Danish Chancellery to the principals of schools in Odense [Present-day Denmark]: “Regarding that children of the Mosaic creed may not participate in religious education in schools: The dogmata of Christianity, and history closely related to morality, should be taught in the secondary schools, this is well known, and thus, it would be entirely inappropriate that a son of parents who are professing to the Jewish religion, in one of the public schools of the Danish state, was to participate in the study of the teachings of the Christian religion.”
