“Papal Decree” issued by Innocent III to all Christians Princes [Holy Roman Empire; Present-day Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria]: “We command that Jews be compelled to remit usury to Christians by you, sons of princes and secular powers. And [un]til they remit it (them) we command that all communication in any way be denied [to] them [Jews] by all faithful Christians, both in commerce and in other things on sentence of excommunication.”
