Constitutional provision issued by Pope Honorius IV for the Kingdom of Sicily [Present-day Italy]: “Article 16. That the Jews, who are vassals of the church, shall not be entrusted with public office, but neither shall they be made to suffer oppressive burdens of the curtailment of their rights.”
