“Decree” issued by the [City] Council/Senate of Frankfurt [Present-day Germany; Free Imperial City of Frankfurt]: “Since it has come to the Council’s attention that numerous foreign and local Jews hire rotten/corrupt boys (‘verdorbene Buben’) and instruct them to borrow cloth/fabric and all sorts of merchandize from the [local] businessmen and then turn them over to Jews for little money and then take off and disappear […] that is why the Council has decided to strictly order the local Jewry […] to completely refrain from all scams/fraud […] or receive corporal punishment  […].” [Researcher’s note: This original document is dated February 10 and August 25.]
