Ordinance, issued by the City of Frankfurt [Present-day Germany]: “Christians are prohibited from lodging any foreign Jews, whether during our trade fairs or outside of them. Resident Jews under our protection shall not give shelter to any non-resident Jew, either. Violators may be stripped of their rights as burghers, or of their Letter of Protection, respectively.”
