“Governmental Decree” issued by the Austrian Government [Present-day Austria]: “[…] Jewish boys are therefore to be admitted to Latin schools in the same manner as Christian boys without exception, as long as they have a legally proper school certificate/school report (‘Zeugnis’) from a regular school or a ‘Hauptschule’* (‘Normal- oder Hauptschule’). [However] Jewish children, who want to visit a Gymnasium*, must have – additionally – a written permission from the state government (‘Landesregierung’). […]” [Researcher’s note: *Hauptschule and Gymnasium are types of schools in German speaking countries.]
