“Ordinance” issued by the Royal Court of Austria [Present-day Austria]: “[…] all new Jews* requesting a tolerance [permits] are to submit their application to the Royal Court […] tolerance permits are never to be approved without the approval of the Royal Chancellery (‘Hofkanzley’).” [Researcher’s note: *This ordinance made no distinction between foreign and local Jews who applied for a toleration permit. This ordinance was reissued on May 9, 1807, and May 30, 1807.]
