“Governmental Decree” issued by the Austrian Government [Present-day Austria]: “[…] no protection-tax is to be collected from those Jews whose limited toleration-period has expired, even if they wish to pay it; but instead – as soon as their toleration-period has expired, and they are unable to provide documentation that their toleration has been extended – they are to be reported immediately to the local authorities (‘Landesstelle’). […]”
