“Royal Court Decree” issued by the Austrian Royal Court [Present-day Austria]: “[…] in terms of school requirement (‘Schulschicken’) no difference is to be made between Jewish and Christian children [in the imposition of] a fine/punishment that is double that of the schooling-fee (‘Schulgeldes’). The negligent school visit of the Jewish youth is to be punished that much more emphatically, because otherwise, the bad (evil) example of the Jewish parents or guardians would serve the Christians as a justification for their own negligence. If the particular punishment is not effective enough, then they (Jewish parents and guardians) must be punished with a severe fine and corporal punishment (‘Geld- oder Leibesstrafe’) when necessary. […]”
