Text of Act	Since His Majesty the King, in accordance with the Riksdag decision of January 26, 1779, has graciously allowed Jews to move here to the Kingdom, and to settle here,… the general conditions are laid down that they may not under any circumstances be admitted to the Kingdom's higher or lower offices and duties: not to enjoy the rights of any member of Parliament: not to establish in any place in the Kingdom public schoolhouses for the propagation of their doctrine: not to give cause for offense by any of the ceremonies connected with their worship: … and that they must not hold any meetings in their houses for the practice of their religion. … His Majesty the King and the National Board of Trade Regulation found it necessary to issue such a regulation as follows for the Jews who want to move into the Kingdom: … §.2. When a Jew arrives into a privileged city, he shall then, within six weeks of his arrival, notify the magistrate whether he wishes to settle there, or in another privileged city, or whether he wishes to leave the Kingdom again … While the aforementioned six weeks of freedom are sufficient, and until the Jew has received his protection, all trade and movement is likewise forbidden to him, at a cost of fifty Swedish Riksdaler in damages. … §. 5. In the following three cities privileged for the establishment of the Jews, namely Stockholm, Gothenburg and Norrköping, they are allowed to engage in all legitimate trade, both wholesale and retail, the latter, however, not differently than in open houses, but not by running around in the houses and on the streets. … §. 12. In addition to the prohibition in § 5 for the Jews to engage in retail trade other than in an open stall, they shall be prohibited from all retail sales of victuals, wine, spirits, drinks and medicines. §. 13. A Jew shall not have the right to occupy any land outside the town where he resides and where he himself carries on trade or manufacture. §. 14. Furthermore, they [Jews] are forbidden to engage in craftsmanship in general, with the duty stipulated in the next section. But if Jewish children want to learn craftsmanship, they have the freedom to do so, and work with Christian masters for daily wages, and may not set up their own workplaces, or seek and win master's certificates themselves. §. 15. Slaughterhouse, brewery, bread and sugar bakery, as well as the sale of wine by the minute, the Jews may operate only for their own needs and those of their faithful, but not for anyone else's. If anyone violates this, the first time ten, the second time twenty Swedish Riksdaler, and the third time he would lose his livelihood and his protection. §. 16. In addition to the duty imposed in the next preceding section, they [Jews] are likewise forbidden to engage in gold and silversmithing. §. 17. If a Jew counterfeits the coin of the Kingdom, corrupts or deteriorates it, in whichever way it may be done, he shall be punished by law with flogging without all leniency or exceptions, and, where the offense does not deserve the death penalty, is immediately expelled from the Kingdom. … §.19. In their lawful business, the Jews, provided with proper passports, may travel between the cities of the Kingdom, and be there, as long as the affairs for which the journey is made so require; but they may not, under the duty imposed in § 15, engage in retail trade in any other place than in the city where they live and are taxed. §. 20. In the countryside, the Jews may not travel and engage in trade or crafts at a price of fifty Swedish Riksdalers. Anyone thus entered shall be immediately taken under guard to the town where he has his rightful place of residence. For Jews who are servants, the master of the house shall pay, and for Jewish children their parents, together with transportation and the Crown servant's fee. If the offender himself is a householder, he shall pay these expenses. If he fails to do so, enforcement will be carried out by the Jewish community without objection. §. 21. … As regards the service and servants of the Jews, an annual tax should be paid for each of them, for the better ones three Riksdaler, for the worse ones one Riksdaler and ten-four shillings, and for the worst ones ten-four shillings. … §. 23. Jews may marry in this country only with their co-religionists, and not with any others. … § 24. None of the Jews now in the Kingdom or hereafter arriving shall be free to accept and use any Swedish subject in their service; whereas they may house and maintain as many servants of their own and other nations as they please, with the express condition that the master shall be responsible if any of the servants violates these regulations in trade or in any other way. § 25. The Jews may not on Sundays and public holidays open their stalls for trade and commerce, or engage in other activities, whereby indignation among the Christians may be aroused. … §. 31. If a dispute arises between a Christian and a Jew, and the truth cannot be told without an oath, then the Jew,… shall take this oath in the synagogue and in the presence of the judge …. If a Jew is caught with a false oath,… he shall be immediately expelled from the country, in addition to the punishment the law of the kingdom generally imposes on perjurers. §. 32. As the Jews are entitled to enjoy all the security, and the protection of life, honor, and property, to which Swedish subjects are entitled; so it is incumbent on them to comply in every way with the law and government of Sweden, and with these regulations: and they are otherwise strictly warned not to insult the Christian community in any way by word or deed.

If any Jew arrives in the Kingdom, either without a passport or proof of wealth, or if such proof is unreliable, the King's officers shall expel him from the Kingdom immediately. §2 – Whenever a Jew arrives in a privileged city [i.e., Stockholm, Gothenburg or Norrkoping], he shall, within six weeks after arriving, inform the Magistrate whether he was going there or to another privileged city to settle down, or whether he will leave the kingdom again. §15 – Butchery, brewery, bread and sugar bakery may be performed by Jews only for the needs of other Jews, but not for anyone else's.
