Papal bull from Clement V to Mary, Queen of France [present-day France]: “As you have explained to us, your conscience is burdened because you have exacted certain sums from some Jews of your country for the benefit of your own budget. We are inclined towards your petition to keep these exacted sums, provided that you assign a portion of these funds to the support of the Apostolic See.”
