Ordinance issued by the Court of Burgos (1315) [Present-day Spain] [Provisional]: “Art. 27 – We order that whatever Christians owe to Jews on account of letters of debt, the Christians shall pay the Jews two thirds of the principal, while the remaining third shall be nullified, and nothing more shall be owed, in usury or otherwise.”
