“Ordinance” issued in the City of Frankfurt [Present-day Germany; Free Imperial City of Frankfurt]: “Jews may not cut and sell cloth/fabric (‘Tuch’) by the Ell […] and to trade with new clothes […] they may not sell spices (‘Spezerein’) in smaller quantities than 1/4 of a Zentner* [… Jews may not sell] silk in quantities less than one pound […and they may not sell] gold, silver, pearls […] in their homes. […]” [Researcher’s note: A Zentner is a unit of mass – equal to 100 German-pounds or 50kg.]
