“Rescript Addressed to the Bailiff and Civil Servants of Sparenberg” issued by Duke Fredrick William of Prussia [Prussia / Present-day Germany and Poland]: “In response to a complaint filed by the mayor and council of Herford, it is commanded that Jews are no longer allowed to reside in Herford without special permission. Jews are not allowed to work as butchers and are only allowed to sell cuts of meats which they are not allowed to consume according to their own [religious] laws.”
