“Patent” issued for Silesia by Fredrick the Great [Present-day Germany]: “[…] a) […] only one son of a Jewish family can wed and be given residency (‘pro incola’) and only with the permission of the County Office (‘Landstelle’) and after the payment of the proper taxes. b) […] those who wed outside of the country shall forever be considered foreigners. c) A family with only daughters will be considered extinct after the death of the father. d) Jews who violate this law shall be expelled from the country forever […] the authorities that permit such things shall be fined 1000 Ducats. e) […] A marriage does not bestow an automatic permission to stay permanently [in the land].  f) When several sons in a family want to marry, the dispensation of the County Offices (‘Landesstelle’) must be obtained. […]”
