“Ordinance” issued by the Austrian Government [Present-day Austria]: “[…] The trading with knick-knacks (‘Das Trödeln’) is prohibited to Jews. […]” [Researcher’s note: ‘Trödeln” is mostly used as a verb in German and usually refer to the act of ‘dawdling.’ Here, however, the law seems to refer to the ‘aimless wandering’ and peddling of semi-useless household items one finds at a ‘Trödelmarkt’ which would be the equivalent of today’s flea market.]
