“Governmental Instruction” issued by the Austrian Government [Austrian Empire; Present-day Austria]: “[…] Since peddling is permitted to Jewish subjects according to the new peddling-patent §4 only in the manner as explicitly prescribed to/required from the other subjects [of the state], as long as no other special laws exists for them […] and since there are special ordinances for them in L[ower] A[ustria] as well as Syria which prohibit [all] Jewish subjects to be present or trade in the countryside (on the flat land) […] therefore, they are banned from all kind of peddling in the future [in these areas].”
