“Instructions for Residency” ordinance issued on behalf of the Kaisers to the “Court War President” (Hofkriegspräsidenten) Duke Collalto [Habsburg Empire; Present-day Austria]: “From His Royal Majesty, […] also to Hungary and Bohemia and Archduke of Austria […] to Duke of Collalto, […] that he is to be told that His Royal Majesty have decided to separate the Jews from the Christian folk and that a place outside of the city is to be designated to which they can be relocated […] it is His Royal Majesty’s will and order that ‘Mr. Duke’ is to remove all Jews who live in the cities and in the land […] with all seriousness, and that no Jew is to remain overnight in any city […].”
