Canon 9 & 14 issued by the Council at Narbonne [France]: “C.9…It is decreed above anything else that the Jews should not be allowed to sing psalms while accompanying the dead, but they shall accompany the dead and put them to rest according to their usage and ancient custom. If they should dare to do otherwise, they shall pay the city count six ounces of gold…”
