“Governmental Decree” issued by the Austrian Government [Present-day Austria]: “[…] in regards to the synagogue and the Rabbi for the Viennese Jews, the previously issued constitution is to remain valid.” [Researcher’s note: This decree was issued in response to requests of the Jewry to be permitted to create a prayer-house; however, since it was determined that there are no more than 65 Jewish families and a total of 504 Jewish individuals living in Vienna, this request was denied and the prohibition for Jews to build a synagogue was confirmed and reissued.]
